This remarkable yacht was designed by Van De Stadt, the founder of the Ducth Yacht building industry and built by Mal Hart in Mornington in the late 1990s.
Now well known internationally for his Pilot Boats built on the Mornington Peninsula, Mal Hart had previously built several highly regarded yachts such as Wild Thing and Vision Quest.
Vision Quest was built to be sailed around the world in the year of the Sydney Olympics, 2000, and the workmanship was of the highest order. She was to be sailed by Vinny Lauvers. Vinny sailed from Melbourne and completed an epic solo circumnavigation of 7 months and weeks. He was subsequently awarded the world disabled sports person of the year in 2001.
Since then the yacht has been under cover in the workshop of John Bakker, Shipwright, who was gradually changing the interior fitout to that of an ultra comfortable, airconditioned world cruiser. The fitting out and installation of the new equipment is still to be done.
